From Where I Stand

Life is a learning journey in phases. This journey plays out in phases, with each one presenting an opportunity to learn more about who we are as an individual.

"From Where I Stand" is my learning journey, from my earliest days in grade school to the present. It's the people and experiences that have made me who I am today.

But it's more than that too. What I've also learned is that none of us exist on an island. We're here together, as a collection of individuals. Yet, we most certainly aren't all the same.

How do we come to an understanding of these differences? How do we appreciate what makes us different and at the same time recognize what we have in common? Most importantly, how can we apply conservative values as we build the individual and our communities?

Life starts us out as a child with a clean canvas and small set of brushes and paints. From there we create the picture as we go, stroke by stroke, year by year. I've got more more work to do, but I'm still painting.
